**KP इंडेक्स** पृथ्वी के चुंबकीय क्षेत्र की गड़बड़ी को 0 (शांत) से 9 (अत्यधिक तूफ़ान) के पैमाने पर मापता है। इसे GFZ Potsdam चुंबकीय वेधशालाओं के नेटवर्क के आधार पर हर तीन घंटे में प्रकाशित करता है।

## पायलट के लिए यह क्यों ज़रूरी है

**भू-चुंबकीय तूफ़ान** के दौरान ऊपरी वायुमंडल अशांत होता है, और ड्रोन जिन उपग्रहों के सिग्नल से अपनी स्थिति तय करता है (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou), वे इसी से होकर आते हैं। पोज़िशनिंग कम सटीक हो सकती है, जो होवर में खिसकने या घर लौटने में कम सटीकता के रूप में दिखती है। तेज़ तूफ़ान कंपास पर भी असर डाल सकते हैं।
