Drone Weather Forecast is a mobile application for Android and iOS that answers one question for drone pilots: is it safe to fly here, now or later this week? It is developed and maintained by Renan Rafael Bertoldo, an independent software developer based in Brazil, and has been available on Google Play and the App Store since 2023.

Why the app exists

General weather apps tell you whether to take an umbrella. A drone pilot needs different answers: how strong are the gusts at 120 metres, will the geomagnetic activity disturb the GPS, how many satellites can the receiver lock, and is the take-off point inside a restricted zone? Drone Weather Forecast collects exactly these indicators, compares each one with the limits of the selected drone model and shows a single verdict: Safe to fly, Fly with caution or Not suitable for flying.

What the app does

Hourly forecast for 7 days for any city or GPS position, shown in the local time of that place.
Wind, gusts and direction at ground level, and a wind profile by altitude from 10 m to 4,200 m in Pro.
Planetary KP index from GFZ Potsdam, with a configurable maximum.
Visible and locked satellites for GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou, computed from CelesTrak orbital elements with an elevation mask.
No-fly zone map with DJI GEO zones over OpenStreetMap, stored on the device.
Pre-flight checklists with history, 79 drone presets from 9 manufacturers, and a moderated pilot community.
Interface translated into 15 languages.

How the verdict is computed

Every indicator has a threshold. Presets fill the wind and temperature limits published by the manufacturer; the other thresholds (precipitation, visibility, cloud cover, KP, minimum satellites) have sensible defaults that you can change. For each hour the app evaluates every indicator against its threshold and colours the card green, yellow or red. The verdict is the worst colour on screen. Missing data is displayed as missing (a neutral grey card) and is never treated as zero.

What Drone Weather Forecast is not

It is not an airspace authority, a flight-authorisation tool or a substitute for the manufacturer's manual. Forecasts are estimates, altitude gusts are estimated from surface data, and the zone map is a visual reference. The pilot remains responsible for checking the official rules of the country where the flight takes place.
